Educational Mission
My mission upon graduation from my masters program is to find a position in a college or university that allows me to make a positive impact on student’s lives. I am interested in working as a community college counselor, academic advisor, or program coordinator. I would like to work with students and provide them with a positive and enriching academic environment. As a first-generation student, I hope to work with this particular population. I understand the struggles and hardships that they and their families have had to overcome. I have experienced the fear and intimidation that comes from stepping onto a college campus for the first time. And I sympathize with their lack of knowledge about various campus resources such as tutoring centers, career services, and financial aid. I hope to be able to guide and support these students during their time in college by instilling them with confidence, determination, and a strong work ethic.
As a young professional it is important for me to be in an environment that allows me to grow and improve. For this reason, I would like to have a supervisor who can serve as a mentor and provide appropriate and constructive feedback on my work. I also hope to have supportive colleagues with whom I can regularly collaborate with to develop programs and initiatives that promote student success.
